Have you ever had a customer service experience where you ended up being a happy customer?

Brig. Gen. Douglas Lee spoke on the topic, "Service with a Smile!" during the Post prayer breakfast at the new Community Activity Center Jan. 20.

Lee reflected back on his father's time in the military. His father served in World War II and he served as a Navy Seabee. Lee stressed that his father always said he "served" and never specified that he was ever a Sailor.

"He was so happy that he had the opportunity to serve," said Lee.

Lee gave his definition of service as to maintain and repair and said that serving in the military is a good example of service.

"The Medical Command is a good example. I'm the recipient of good medical care when I was in the Army and now in retirement. The cost of liberty and freedom are high. The death toll could be much higher if it were not for the good medical care our military is receiving," said Lee.

He finished his remarks by quoting Gen. George Marshall, "The Soldier's heart, the Soldier's spirit, the Soldier's soul, are everything. Unless the Soldier's soul sustains him he cannot be relied on and will fail himself and his commander and his country in the end."
