USAMRMC seeks volunteers for Science and Engineering Festival
USAMRMC, in partnership with the National Museum of Health and Medicine, is hosting six demonstration booths at the USA Science and Engineering Festival, April 27-29, 2012. The Expo will be held at the Convention Center in Washington D.C.
The USA Science and Engineering Festival is advertised as the nation's largest celebration of all things science & engineering and features over 1500 hands-on activities and over 75 performances. They have exciting new programs including a book fair, featured Science & Engineering authors and a career pavilion!
The 2010 festival attracted over 500,000 people and had strong support from the White House and Congress.
USAMRMC is asking for volunteers to help staff two of the Expo booths. Volunteers do not necessarily need to be scientists or technically proficient however we will want a mixture of volunteers to include scientists and military personnel. USAMRMC volunteers will offer several different hands-on demonstrations designed to educate and entertain children K-12 and adults alike. The demonstrations are based upon the GEMS curriculum and will involve electricity, robotics, and microbiology. Explanatory material and training for each demonstration will be provided ahead of time to familiarize volunteers with booth activities.
This will be an exciting and fun volunteer opportunity that will allow you to represent USAMRMC and promote STEM in our nation's capital. To volunteer please email USAMRMCEducationalOutreach@amedd.army.mil
