21st Signal Brigade's Col. Mark D. Baxter and Command Sgt. Maj. Robert A. Daniel were joined by Frederick City Mayor Randy McClement and U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and Fort Detrick Commanding General Maj. Gen. Joseph Caravalho, Jr., at the 21st Signal Brigade's second annual Operation Personal Promise Dec. 13.

During the event, soldiers and civilians re-committed themselves to their professional core elements, including trust, military expertise, honorable service, esprit de corps and stewardship of the profession. Participants were bused in to take part in the event at Fort Detrick. Others took part via teleconference.

"In taking the oath, we have committed our lives to the Constitution of the United States," Caravalho said. "We have the privilege and honor to defend this country for the spirit of freedom and democracy."

"These values are our credentials, and these values are our building blocks for standards and discipline," Daniel added. "[I am] proud and honored to be part of a great team -- the 21st Signal Brigade."

The ceremony also featured a vocal rendition of the U.S. National Anthem by 21st Signal Brigade's Master Sgt. Brooks Reeves and a multimedia presentation from one of the 55th Signal Company (Combat Camera). Attendees also joined in witnessing a recital of each individual creed narratives for officers, noncommissioned officers, warrant officers, enlisted soldiers and civilians.

At the end of the ceremony, Baxter emphasized the importance of holiday safety and said, "Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel and I remain overwhelmingly honored and privileged to be your command team."
