Soldiers from the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense and the U.S. Army Center for Environmental Health Research participated in a staff ride to Washington, D.C., June 5 to tour the White House.

USAMRICD Commander Col. Bruce Schoneboom said the venue was the perfect professional and leadership development opportunity. Additionally, an escorted tour of the White House public rooms'and a photo opportunity with White House canine residents Bo and Sunny'promotes the unit's camaraderie, according to Schoneboom.

White House Medical Unit's Maj. James Jones hosted the 33 soldiers on their tour of the White House's Vermeil Room, Library, East Room, Green Room, Blue Room, Red Room, State Dining Room, and Cross Halls. Jones provided some historical information about the White House and how the military supports the presidency.
