Bertram Visits Georgia Lab
Dr. Kenneth Bertram, principal assistant for acquisition for the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command,
visited the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research's newest overseas research laboratory, the U.S. Army Medical
Research Unit - Georgia in Tbilisi, Georgia.
In between policy and programming meetings at the laboratory, Dr. Bertram gave a guest lecture to medical students at the Tbilisi State Medical University. Bertram spoke to the students about the opportunities of a career in medicine, highlighting the unique benefits of pursuing paths in clinical research. The USAMRD-G is establishing the first U.S.-Georgian student externship program with Tbilisi State Medical University, offering select students the opportunity to engage in research projects under the mentorship of USAMRD-G scientists.
