2016 Military Health System Research Symposium
(Fort Detrick, Md.) -- The 24th annual Military Health System Research Symposium will take place Aug. 15-18 in Kissimmee, Florida.
The MHSRS is the Department of Defense's premier scientific meeting; a unique collaborative opportunity for military medical care providers, DOD scientists, academia and industry to exchange information on research advancements and health care developments in the areas of Combat Casualty Care, Military Operational Medicine, Clinical and Rehabilitative Medicine and Military Infectious Disease Research Programs.
The meeting originated in 1992 as an Army meeting focused on combat casualty care; over the years, it has grown to include all of the DOD as well as additional topics relevant to military health. The MHSRS is the only scientific meeting that specifically addresses the unique medical needs of the Warfighter.
The 2016 MHSRS will offer 44 scientific breakout sessions and more than 1,000 poster presentations, with specific focus on military operations in a complex environment. The meeting will also include a media roundtable featuring experts from the DOD; the roundtable will focus on the translation of military trauma care into the civilian trauma care sector. The roundtable will take place Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.; media interested in the roundtable can contact Chelsea Bauckman at 301-619-8060.
