BG Constance L. Jenkins

Brigadier General Constance L. Jenkins, a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, commissioned into the U.S. Army Nurse Corps as a Distinguished Military Graduate of the Indiana University–Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) Army ROTC program. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University.

Throughout her career, BG Jenkins has served in a wide range of clinical, educational, operational, and strategic leadership roles. Her early assignments include serving as Chief Anesthetist for the 759th Forward Surgical Team at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, with deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan; Assistant Chief, Nurse Anesthesia, and Clinical Director for the U.S. Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii; and Chief Nurse Anesthetist for the 47th Combat Support Hospital, deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in Mosul, Iraq. She also served as Branch Manager at Human Resources Command, Fort Knox, Kentucky.

She later held senior academic, staff, and command positions, including Director of the U.S. Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing at the AMEDD Center and School, Joint Base San Antonio–Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Director of Talent Management in the Office of The Surgeon General, U.S. Army Medical Command; Commander of U.S. Army Medical Activity–Alaska, Fort Wainwright; Chief of Staff, Regional Health Command–Atlantic, Fort Belvoir, Virginia; and Commander of the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, Fort Detrick, Maryland.

Her subsequent strategic roles include serving as Special Assistant to The Surgeon General and Army Liaison for Military Health System Governance, followed by service as Executive Officer to The Surgeon General at the Pentagon. She most recently served as Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Medical Command, Falls Church, Virginia.

BG Jenkins' awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit with three bronze oak leaf clusters, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with three bronze oak leaf clusters, the Combat Action Badge, and the Parachutist Badge. She has been awarded The Surgeon General's "9A" Proficiency Designator and is a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit.

Her military education includes the AMEDD Officer Basic and Advanced Courses and the Command and General Staff College. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center; a Doctor of Nursing Anesthesia Practice from Texas Wesleyan University, with a dual focus on education and management; and a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy at the National Defense University.

She is married to her husband, Tom, of 33 years, and they share their home with two rescue beagles and a cat.
