The U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) is the world's leading institute for combat casualty care research, specializing in life-saving medical innovations for battlefield injuries. USAISR's research has led to advancements such as the SAM Junctional Tourniquet, which addresses bleeding in areas where traditional tourniquets cannot be used, and the extension of the shelf life of cold-stored platelets, a critical blood product for battlefield care. USAISR also conducts research on burn care, trauma resuscitation, and wound healing, ensuring that injured Warfighters receive optimal care and recovery support.
