U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine
USARIEM
USARIEM conducts research to optimize Soldier health and performance in extreme environments, including heat, cold, altitude, and physical exertion. Its work has led to the development of tools such as the Individual Heat Optimization Training Tool, which assesses exertional heat illness risk, and the Cold Weather Ensemble Decision Aid, which provides guidance on clothing selection for freezing conditions. USARIEM's research ensures that Warfighters can perform effectively in diverse operational environments while minimizing the risk of environmental injuries.
