Unveiling the New USAMRDC STEM Website
The Strategic Planning Office (SPO) is excited to present the new U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command's (USAMRDC) Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) website, which can be accessed at: stem.health.mil.
The SPO develops the educational strategy for USAMRDC, which is ultimately designed to energize students, teachers, and the community in STEM topics. The office provides support, coordinates activities for laboratories, and serves as the central clearinghouse for communication of educational opportunities.
USAMRDC partners with a number of Department of Defense (DOD) organizations to provide no-cost opportunities to kindergarten through graduate level students. Opportunities include STEM enrichment programs, STEM competitions, and apprenticeships and internships enabling students to work directly with U.S. Army scientists and engineers. The new USAMRDC STEM webpage showcases these student programs as well as volunteer opportunities for scientists, engineers, and military personnel, as well as at-home learning resources in STEM education and articles related to current USAMRDC STEM events.
These student programs are designed to foster passion in STEM related careers from an early age, encourage active participation in hands-on STEM activities, and spark interest in the variety of fields in STEM. This not only helps to strengthen and diversify the talent and ability of students in STEM, but also helps to build the bench and ensure the prepared and readiness for the next generation of Army scientists and engineers.
The student programs promoted on the website would not be possible without the help of volunteers. Having military personnel present and working side-by-side with students is exciting for the participants and helps to familiarize all students with the multi-faceted work performed by the U.S. Army. Many students don't realize the breadth of STEM opportunities within the DOD until they participate in these programs and speak with STEM volunteers. Please check out the new website to both review the various opportunities available and to catch up on the latest news regarding USAMRDC STEM.
