MRDC Goes Out to the Ballgame!
The Defense Health Agency Research & Development – Medical Research and Development Command participated in Fort Detrick Military Appreciation Night at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium earlier this month, as the Frederick Keys took on the Bowling Green Hot Rods. The Fort Detrick Color Guard presented the colors, adding a patriotic element to the start of the game and helping set the tone for an evening dedicated to honoring Frederick's military community. Before taking the mound, BG Constance Jenkins welcomed the crowd and shared remarks paying tribute to the service members, families, and the community in attendance before she threw out the ceremonial first pitch, and from there it was an unforgettable night of baseball and esprit de corps at the ballpark.
The event brought together a wide cross-section of DHA R&D – MRDC staff, with representatives from across the enterprise all in the stands to witness a night of baseball. In a fitting finish to the night, the Keys pulled out a nail-biting 5-4 win in extra innings on a walk-off walk drawn by Yasmil Bucce. DHA R&D – MRDC looks forward to honoring our military and their families alongside the Frederick Keys each year.
