Commander of U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and Fort Detrick Set to Retire
(Fort Detrick, Md.) - With over 36 years of service, the U.S. Army will say farewell to one of its finest general officers, Maj. Gen. George W. Weightman, commander of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and Fort Detrick.
A change of command ceremony will be held for Weightman March 31 at 2 p.m. at Fort Detrick, Md., on Blue and Gray Field.
The Vermont native says he plans on retiring with his wife Joan in Winston-Salem, N.C.
"I'm so grateful to the Army for allowing me to serve and giving my family an opportunity to grow. It has been a wonderful career of service that I will always cherish," said Weightman.
