The primary mission of the HQ U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command IRB is to protect the safety, rights, and welfare of participants in research conducted under its purview. The IRB has a responsibility to ensure that research involving human subjects is conducted ethically and in compliance with applicable Federal, DoD and USAMRDC regulatory requirements.
The IRB provides services for scientists and researchers assigned to the HQ USAMRDC and serves as the primary IRB for USAMRDC subordinate Institutes and Laboratories:
- U.S. Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL)
- U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR)
- U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID)
- U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM)
- U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD)
