This DHA multi-service regulation describes, in depth, requirements for the use of animals in DoW programs.

DOD Instruction 3216.01 provides complete description of the use of animals in DoW conducted and supported research and training.

Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation: Animal Welfare Clause
Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation: Animal Welfare Clause provides description of the conditions for the use of animals in DoW conducted and supported research and training.

Federal laws and regulations governing the use of animals in research and testing. Administered by the USDA.

The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (The Guide)
Must be used by any government agency sponsoring research or teaching involving the use of laboratory animals.

Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (PHS Policy)
The PHS policy provides the regulatory framework for the use of live, vertebrate animals in any activity supported or conducted by the PHS agencies and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services components, or with entities which have an MOU with NIH.

AVMA Guidelines on Euthanasia (2020)
DoW requires that euthanasia methods be in accordance with this report unless scientifically justified.
