The U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command awarded Retired Lt. Col. Lamont Kapec, U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity, Dwayne Oland, Fort Detrick Garrison, and Master Sgt. Brian Wojciechowski, USAMRMC, the Order of Military Medical Merit.

The Order of Military Medical Merit, the O2M3, is a unique, private organization founded by the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Health Services Command in April 1982. The organization recognizes excellence and promotes fellowship and esprit de corps among Army Medical Department personnel. Membership in the Order denotes distinguished service, which is recognized by the senior leadership of the AMEDD.

The awardee must be nominated into the Order by an existing member. Awardees should have presented a level of service and contribution commensurate to a senior level officer (normally LTC and above) and senior level NCO (normally MSG and above). Civilians can also be nominated for their service commensurate to their time in service with the AMEDD and level of contribution. The Advisory Council reviews all nominees for induction to the Order. Personnel usually are AMEDD officers, NCOs or civilians.

However, we've extended nominees to our sister Services in the Navy, Air Force, and Marines. In very few occasions, the Order approved induction of non-AMEDD officers such as, Armor, Infantry, etc. or non-US military personnel such as, senior German Army officers.
