USAMRMC's Kissane Named 2018 Letterman Award Recipient
For the past decade, the National Museum of Civil War Medicine has recognized individuals and organizations that carry on the legacy of Maj. Jonathan Letterman's innovation and service to Wounded Warriors with the Letterman Medical Excellence Award. The award focuses on those who have made significant contributions to the fields of medicine and patient care.
Jonathan M. Kissane served as a career Army Medical Service Corps officer and is currently a senior medical logistics consultant to the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command. He is recognized as the singular greatest driver of innovation in medical logistics. Kissane's knowledge and appreciation of the limitations on forward medical elements led him to devise creative and highly effective solutions for medical resupply by division and brigade level medics and medical units.
The achievements of USAMRMC's workforce within the military medicine community are celebrated and gain well deserved recognition through these highly coveted awards. Individuals like Kissane are leading innovative efforts to ensure readiness of the force by providing medical logistics capabilities worldwide. Access to critical medical materiel enables Warfighters to respond to mission requirements anywhere and at any time.
Kissane received the award at a dinner held October 11, 2018 at the Gettysburg Hotel in historic Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
